Do you need WiFi for your CPAP machine to send data?

Cellular modems and SD Card for Data Transfer 

Most ResMed CPAP machines come with a built-in cellular modem, already connected to the network. So once powered on, data is already set to transfer to the ResMed cloud monitoring software, completely independent of WiFi.  Other units come with an SD card for data storage and transfer. 

This means that you don’t need WiFi to send data from your machine most of the time. 

 

WiFi for Convenience 

 However, WiFi can be a convenient way to transfer data wirelessly, if your device has a WiFi modem. 

Any wirelessly transferred data is especially useful if you want to track your data over time or share it with your doctor. 

 

Importance of Data Tracking 

 Data tracking can help with better treatment and diagnosis. 

For example, it can help identify if your CPAP pressure needs to be adjusted or if you have sleep apnea.
